What Is Hemp? Why We Use Hemp to Make CBD Edibles

There are many terms throughout the cannabis industry that can become confusing when dabbling in the world of THC and CBD products. For example, did you know CBD can be made from different plants? Two types of CBD are hemp CBD and marijuana CBD. While both are similar to one another, there are a few differences between them. The Kefla Organics team in focuses on selling and producing tasty hemp CBD products that are certified organic for customers nationwide Here, we talk about what is hemp and why we choose to make our CBD products from hemp.

What Is Hemp?

Hemp is a type of cannabis sativa plant that holds less than 0.3% THC and produces more CBD compounds than other cannabis plants. The flowers, stalks, and leaves of the hemp plant are commonly used to produce CBD products. This is because these specific areas of the hemp plant hold the highest amount of CBD. CBD, also called cannabidiol, provides some effects like THC but is non-intoxicating.

Aside from producing CBD, hemp has been useful for many years. It is commonly used for the making of other products, such as food, rope, clothes, and more. For instance, the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (2018 Farm Bill) made it legal to grow hemp throughout certain areas in the United States. The implementation of this bill has contributed to the rising popularity of the sale and consumption of CBD and other hemp extract products.

Hemp vs. Other Types of CBD

Hemp has less THC content than marijuana and other cannabis plants. The higher THC concentration is what produces the usual high that users feel with marijuana. In addition, the makeup of CBD does not change with the type of plant. In other words, the effects of CBD remain mostly the same regardless of whether you are using hemp or marijuana.

Another type of product that comes from hemp is hemp seed oil. Hemp seed oil is made using the seeds of the hemp plant. This type of oil differs from CBD oil because it does not contain high concentrations of either THC or CBD. Similar to CBD, hemp seed oil does not produce euphoric effects like THC. This oil is high in nutritious contents, such as omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids.

Why Hemp?

Kefla Organics makes its CBD products using U.S.-grown hemp plants and certified-organic ingredients. This is because hemp holds more CBD properties than other types of plants, so we can ensure our products are controlled and accurate. Hemp plants have a lower THC content, so users can experience and enjoy THC without impairment. Hemp is also legal to produce, while marijuana plants aren’t as widely legalized. This makes our products more widely available and safer for consumption.

We use all elements of the cannabis sativa plant to make our products, which allows us to create full-spectrum CBD products, such as:

We use all elements of the cannabis sativa plant, meaning our full-spectrum products contain both CBD and a small amount of THC. To learn more about what ingredients go into our products, take a look at our lab results.
